Dr. Ruth Westheimer became an unlikely pop culture sensation in the 1980s with her exuberant sex advice radio show. Caballero riffed on her success with the 1986 porn parody Dr. Truth’s Great Sex. Where Dr. Ruth was short, chubby and grandmotherly, Dr. Truth was a sultry babe played by pornstar Kimberly Carson.

In 1999, a BDSM studio called Sunshine Films released Dr. Ruthless. The back cover blurb explains, “Dr. Ruthless, America’s kinkiest sexual researcher, and her faithful assistant Mongo have enticed four apparently innocent college coeds into their laboratory!” Front cover tagline: “Her RX for sexcess is punishment most severe!”
